Turkish Humanitarian Relief Agency Announces Assistance to Over 4.5 Million Sudanese Since Outbreak of War

SadaNews - The Turkish Humanitarian Relief Agency announced that it has provided humanitarian assistance to more than 4.5 million people in Sudan since the outbreak of war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.

The agency confirmed in a statement that it distributed hundreds of food parcels earlier this week inside the refugee camp it manages in the city of Port Sudan (West), with the participation of the Turkish Ambassador to Sudan, Fatih Yildiz.

According to the statement, the Turkish agency has distributed 333 containers of relief materials to those affected by the war in Sudan, benefiting a total of 4 million and 645 thousand and 535 people as of today.

Due to the ongoing war in Sudan, more than 20 million people are struggling to survive amidst hunger, displacement, outbreaks of diseases, and floods, in one of the largest humanitarian crises in the world.

Women and children make up the vast majority of those living in refugee camps, and civilians living under difficult conditions are battling to secure their basic needs, facing significant challenges in accessing food, clean water, hygiene supplies, healthcare, and education.

Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been engaged in a war that has resulted in the deaths of more than 20,000 people and the displacement and refugee status of nearly 15 million, according to the United Nations and local authorities, while a study conducted by American universities estimated the death toll to be around 130,000.
