Prime Minister: The Government Continues Its Preparations for the Implementation of the Recovery and Reconstruction Plan in Gaza
SadaNews: Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa confirmed that the government continues its communications and intensive coordination with Arab brothers and international partners to prepare for the implementation of the recovery and reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip, and to prepare for holding a donor conference in the Republic of Egypt next month. He emphasized the directives to all relevant authorities to continuously update their executive plans for recovery and reconstruction operations to ensure prompt implementation and response to citizens' needs as conditions on the ground permit.
The council called in its weekly session today, Tuesday, for effective international action to curb the terrorist attacks by settlers against Palestinian farmers in the West Bank, which have also targeted dozens of foreign activists participating in the olive-picking campaign, considering this part of a broader occupation scheme to undermine the resilience of citizens in their lands.
Moreover, the Council of Ministers approved the executive plan for the national cross-sector strategy to enhance governance and combat corruption, which was prepared by the Anti-Corruption Commission for the first time in partnership with various relevant parties. The plan includes adopting a monitoring and evaluation system through a national team to ensure effective pursuit of those who commit corruption crimes, to prevent impunity, to enhance social accountability in combating and reporting corruption, and to enhance the performance of the Anti-Corruption Commission and national institutions in preventing and reducing corruption.
The process of approving the executive plan for the national anti-corruption strategy comes as part of a broader vision adopted by the Palestinian government to enhance the performance and governance of official institutions, as the government has taken more than 60 reform measures during a year and a half since its appointment as part of its executive steps to apply the national development and improvement program.
In a related context, the council discussed the initial reading of the system for organizing the acceptance of symbolic and protocol gifts, which includes organizing procedures for dealing with gifts and how to act on them to achieve transparency and prevent exploitation and conflicts of interest.
The council also approved a memorandum of understanding between the governments of the State of Palestine and the Republic of Chile in the field of education and higher education, including cooperation in the areas of: scientific research, scholarships, and employment of technology in education, among other fields.
The council also approved the implementation of projects for the Palestinian Employment Fund in the Gaza Strip, especially those that provide job opportunities for vital and productive sectors, particularly in the fields of public cleanliness, maintenance of service networks, opening roads, and enhancing public health and psychological counseling services, under streamlined and flexible procedures that consider current conditions.
It is noted that winter time will begin on Saturday morning, October 25, by moving the clock back sixty minutes.
