Israeli Airstrikes on Mahmoudiyeh and Jarmak Areas in Southern Lebanon

SadaNews - The Israeli Air Force conducted a series of airstrikes targeting the Mahmoudiyeh and Jarmak areas in southern Lebanon, coinciding with the renewed and ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah since November 2024.

Israeli reports indicated that the airstrikes targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, while the Israeli army announces almost daily operations in Lebanese territory, claiming these attacks aim at "preventing attempts to rehabilitate its capabilities."

The Lebanese agency reported that "Israeli warplanes launched three airstrikes on the town of Al-Aishiya and the Mahmoudiyeh and Jarmak areas in the Jezzine district."

Israeli aircraft were also observed flying over the capital Beirut, reaching the southern suburb, indicating they were "intensively and at very low altitude."

This comes amid a near-daily continuation of Israeli airstrikes and attacks in Lebanese territory, resulting in casualties and injuries in several towns in eastern and southern Lebanon.

In October 2023, Israel launched an aggression against Lebanon that escalated into a full-scale war in September 2024, which resulted in the deaths of more than 4,000 people and injuries to about 17,000 others, with 19 others arrested.

Despite reaching a ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel in November 2024, Israel has violated it more than 4,500 times, resulting in hundreds of martyrs and wounded.

Challenging the agreement, Israel occupies 5 Lebanese hills that it seized during the last war, in addition to other territories it has occupied for decades.
