Trump Supports His Attack Against the Gangs: Hamas Must Lay Down Its Arms
SadaNews - President Donald Trump stated today (Tuesday) that the Hamas movement must lay down its arms, or they will be taken from them.
Trump added during a meeting at the White House with Argentine President Javier Milei: "If they do not lay down their arms, we will take them. This will happen quickly and perhaps violently."
He said that he informed Hamas of this, and they agreed to lay down their arms as stipulated in his 20-point peace proposal.
He continued: "I spoke with Hamas, and I told them, you will lay down your arms, right? Yes, sir, we will lay down our arms. That is what they told me," and later clarified that he conveyed the message through intermediaries.
Trump later clarified that it was his senior advisors who spoke with Hamas.
The prospects for Trump's peace plan have been shrouded in uncertainty since his return from his visit to Israel and Egypt yesterday.
Israel has imposed restrictions on the entry of aid into Gaza and kept the borders of the enclave closed today, while fighters from Hamas returning to the enclave demonstrated their control by carrying out public executions on the streets.
Trump endorsed Hamas's killing of members of other gangs at a time when Hamas is tightening its security grip.
Earlier, he announced on the "Truth Social" platform the start of the second phase of the Gaza agreement.
The U.S. President urged Hamas to surrender the remaining bodies of deceased hostages, stating that this step is necessary to move on to the next phase of the U.S.-backed ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
In a post on "Truth Social," Trump wrote: "A heavy burden has been lifted, but the mission is not accomplished," indicating that the promise made to return all bodies has not been fulfilled, following his visit to Israel and Egypt celebrating the agreement.
