Al-Shara: Israel Declares War by Attacking the Presidential Palace in Damascus but We Do Not Wish to Launch a War Against It
SadaNews - Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara accused Israel of declaring war following the attack on the presidential palace in Damascus, but he clarified, saying: "I do not wish to launch a war against Israel."
After ten months since the fall of the Assad regime, Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara stated that his government "will take all legal steps to prosecute the former president," who has built a new life for himself in Moscow, where he fled amidst the coup.
However, he indicated that he understands that "entering into a conflict with Russia at this stage would be costly for Syria and not in the country's interest."
He stated that rebuilding Syria, after nearly a decade and a half of war, will cost between $600 and $900 billion, and it "will require the assistance of the international community."
He also pointed out that the international community itself failed to stop Assad's brutality: "The world has witnessed this tragedy unfold over 14 years, and it has been unable to do anything to stop this crime. Therefore, the world must support Syria today. Anyone who obstructs lifting sanctions on it is a partner to the perpetrators of the crime."
