Trump at the Knesset: This is not the end of a war, but the dawn of a historic day for a new Middle East
SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed on Monday that "today the guns fell silent and the future of the Middle East will be bright," in his speech before the Israeli Knesset. He expressed his appreciation for the Arab and Islamic countries that pressured Hamas, emphasizing that they are partners in peace. He added that "everything will change for the better and the Middle East is heading towards a golden age."
Trump stated that he does not like wars, "and it seems that I am succeeding in stopping them... This is not the end of a war, but the dawn of a historic day for a new Middle East." He confirmed that Hamas will be disarmed and that Israel's security will not be threatened, allowing Israel to pursue peace now and ensure that wars do not recur. During the speech, an Arab member and a leftist member were expelled from the Knesset for interrupting the U.S. president's remarks.
The U.S. president also addressed Iran, noting that the joint operation with Israel against Iran was remarkable and that nuclear terrorism in Iran has been eradicated. He added: "We prevented Iran from obtaining the most dangerous weapons in the world... We dropped 14 bombs on Iran's nuclear facilities," stressing that "the forces of chaos in the Middle East have been completely defeated." However, he emphasized that it would be wonderful if a peace agreement with Iran could be reached.
Regarding Lebanon, Trump affirmed that good things are happening in Lebanon after the eradication of Hezbollah, which targeted Israel, emphasizing: "We support the Lebanese president's efforts to confine weapons to the state."
Trump stated before the Knesset, "It is an incredible victory for Israel and the world for all these countries to work together as partners in peace. Generations from now, this will be remembered as the moment everything began to change." He added: "We have shown that peace is not just a hope we can dream of, but a reality we can build on... day by day, person by person, nation by nation."
He emphasized that "the total focus of the people of Gaza must be on restoring the basics of stability, safety, dignity, and economic development, so they can finally have a better life for their children." He added: "Even for Iran... the hand of friendship and cooperation is always open," noting that "peace and mutual respect can certainly thrive among the broader Middle Eastern countries."
