For the First Time.. Algeria Reveals a Conspiracy to Bomb the Conference Announcing the State of Palestine

SadaNews - President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, revealed that there was a plan to bomb the Palais des Nations in the capital, Algiers, during the hosting of the event announcing the establishment of the Palestinian state in 1988.

This came during a speech before senior leaders of the Algerian military at the Ministry of National Defense, broadcasted on state television last night.

Tebboune, highlighting his country's position on the Palestinian issue, said: Here in Algeria, the Palestinian state was announced despite the dangers that were present at that time.. and you, army officers, know what was being plotted against Algeria, including the bombing of the Palais des Nations, without mentioning the entity that planned the bombing.

On November 15, 1988, Algeria hosted at the Palais des Nations in the capital, the ninth session of the Palestinian National Council, during which the late President Yasser Arafat proclaimed the establishment of the Palestinian state.

For the first time, Algeria has officially announced, from the President of the country, that there was a plan to bomb the site of the event announcing the establishment of the Palestinian state.

Over the past years, unofficial platforms have circulated information indicating that Israel had planned to bomb the Palais des Nations in Algeria at the moment of declaring the establishment of the Palestinian state in 1988, using fighter jets, but the Algerian army thwarted the plan by deploying an air defense system and advanced radar devices, while positioning interceptor fighters at the border of the airspace.

In this context, Tebboune affirmed that Algeria has fulfilled its duty towards Palestine, out of a sense of conscience and support for justice, as it hosted the Palestinian leadership, headed by Yasser Arafat, when the situation intensified in 1982.

He stressed that despite this threat, Algeria did not retreat or compromise because its conscience is with Palestine.

He added that Algeria's position on Palestine has not changed and will not change, despite our friendship with some countries that have a completely opposing policy.

The Algerian president reiterated the description of the Israeli war on Gaza as genocide committed for the first time in human history, before the eyes of the world.

He also confirmed that the only solution to the conflict is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.
