Sudanese Army Leader: We Will Liberate All Areas of North Kordofan and Break the Siege of Al-Fashir

SadaNews - Sudanese Sovereignty Council member and head of the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance, Abdullah Yahya, stated that the upcoming strategy involves liberating all areas of North Kordofan, followed by breaking the siege of Al-Fashir city and liberating all of Darfur.

According to a statement from the joint forces of the movements allied with the Sudanese army, Yahya inspected the front lines in the operational axis in North Kordofan, saying that the battle is now approaching its end and the defeat of what he called "the enemy" is imminent.

This comes at a time when the Rapid Support Forces are launching their most intense assault on Al-Fashir, the capital of Darfur state, in an attempt to control it.

Fighting renewed yesterday, Wednesday, between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in the city of Al-Fashir in northern Darfur, following the army's announcement of its control over advanced defensive positions in the city.

At least 20 civilians were killed in the past 24 hours due to shelling by the Rapid Support Forces on a hospital, one of the last operational health facilities in the besieged city of Al-Fashir in the Darfur region, according to medical sources.

Activists report that Al-Fashir, the last major city in the Darfur region outside the control of the Rapid Support Forces, has become a "morgue, bleeding from all sides."

The shelling yesterday resulted in at least 12 fatalities, including a doctor and a nurse, and 17 injuries, as reported by colleagues who requested anonymity.

This is the second attack on the hospital in less than 24 hours.

The ongoing conflict since April 2023 between the army and Rapid Support Forces has led to the deaths of tens of thousands of people and displaced millions, while approximately 25 million people are facing acute hunger. It has been described as "the worst humanitarian crisis in the world" according to the United Nations.
