Meloni announces she is targeted by a complaint to the International Criminal Court for complicity in Gaza genocide
SadaNews - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that she is targeted by a complaint filed against her with the International Criminal Court by a human rights organization, accusing her of "complicity in genocide" in the Gaza Strip due to her government's support for Israel.
Meloni stated, "I, along with Minister (of Defense Guido) Crosetto and Minister (of Foreign Affairs Antonio) Tajani, and I believe also the CEO of (the company) Leonardo, Roberto Cingolani, are targeted by a complaint before the International Criminal Court for complicity in genocide."
The Prime Minister made this statement during a television interview that will be broadcast around midnight local time, from which media outlets have published excerpts. She continued, "I believe there is no other complaint of this kind in the world or in history."
Leonardo is an Italian group active in the aerospace and defense sectors.
The complaint was prepared by a group called "Lawyers and Legal Experts for Palestine" and is dated October 1st, signed by around 50 individuals, including law professors, lawyers, and public figures.
The text of the complaint states, "By supporting the Israeli government, particularly in supplying lethal weapons, the Italian government has made itself a partner in the ongoing genocide and serious war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against the Palestinian people."
The signatories are calling on the International Criminal Court to assess the possibility of opening a formal investigation based on their complaint.
