
Mustafa: We Hope to Reverse the Path of Destruction and Start a New Phase of Recovery and Reconstruction
SadaNews - The Prime Minister, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, confirmed the government’s readiness for immediate and urgent interventions once the aggression in the Gaza Strip ceases, highlighting the importance of joint work with international partners in emergency efforts, restoring essential services, and providing urgent relief in preparation for launching comprehensive reconstruction efforts.
This statement was made during a meeting in the government operations room for emergency interventions in the southern governorates, to discuss the latest humanitarian and field updates in the southern governorates, as well as the emergency response plan and the readiness of the operations room in the upcoming period, attended by a number of ministers and international and local partners.
The Prime Minister said: "It has been two years since the start of the war on Gaza, and our people have gone through difficult times. We reaffirm our commitment as a government of the State of Palestine to our people in Gaza, and our determination to do everything possible to support them and stand by them. We also hope to reverse the path of destruction and begin a new phase of recovery and reconstruction."
Mustafa expressed his gratitude on behalf of the President to the partners in the international community, the local civil society, the private sector, international organizations, and UN agencies, for their good work over the past two years.
The Prime Minister called on the international community to renew its commitment and support for the new phase that is about to commence, and to be prepared to face the expected challenges in the upcoming stage.
Mustafa expressed his hope that the efforts being made in Sharm El-Sheikh will yield good results, and that there will be a swift ceasefire, a swap of prisoners and hostages, a withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, as well as the start of work to reunify our institutions in Gaza and the West Bank, and commence joint work to implement plans for humanitarian assistance and emergencies, as well as recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
For their part, the UN humanitarian coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territories affirmed the UN and its institutions' support for the government in executing relief, recovery, and reconstruction plans in cooperation with all partners, while the ambassadors of Jordan and Egypt reaffirmed their countries’ support for efforts to cease fire and reconstruction.
Meanwhile, the Ministers of Health, Education, Planning, Public Works and Housing, and Social Development reviewed the efforts of their ministries over the past two years, along with the executive plans following the cessation of aggression.
