Resumption of Sharm El-Sheikh Negotiations Between Hamas and Israel on Its Second Day

SadaNews - This Tuesday morning marked the beginning of the second round of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh in South Sinai, as part of efforts to reach an agreement on the release of Palestinian prisoners and Israeli detainees, according to the peace plan proposed by Trump.

These talks come amid increasing regional and international momentum following the proposal of Trump's plan to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, as the parties involved seek to build on this momentum to achieve tangible progress towards sustainable calm.

In a press conference held by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti in Cairo, alongside Slovenian counterpart Tanja Fajon, he confirmed that the negotiations are discussing the establishment of a security mechanism that guarantees a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, in addition to examining the first phase of Trump's plan, which includes the release of Israeli detainees in Gaza and a number of Palestinian prisoners, as well as ensuring the unhindered and unconditional entry of humanitarian aid through UN channels.

Abdel Atti pointed out that the goal of these efforts is to solidify a fair peace process based on the two-state solution, and to achieve political and geographical unity between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, with the necessity of empowering the Palestinian Authority within the framework of an independent state.

For its part, Egyptian sources revealed intense movements by the Egyptian and Qatari mediators to establish a mechanism that ensures the mutual release of detainees and prisoners, paving the way towards ending the war and starting a new phase of stability.

Egypt called on all parties to take responsibility and implement the provisions of Trump's plan on the ground, which includes ending military operations, ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid without restrictions, and releasing detainees, in preparation for detailed negotiations regarding the mechanisms for implementing the political vision that enjoys broad international support and opens the door to lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
