Sharm El Sheikh Hosts Gaza Negotiations Today with Egyptian and Qatari Sponsorship

SadaNews - Today, a new round of negotiations to end the war in the Gaza Strip kicks off in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh, with the participation of delegations from Hamas and Israel, under the sponsorship of regional mediators Qatar and Egypt. According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the Israeli delegation is expected to leave for Egypt at 2 PM, with official talks set to begin at 4 PM, as translated by SadaNews.

This round comes amid indications of tangible progress, as U.S. President Donald Trump announced that "the talks to end the war in Gaza are successful and progressing rapidly," pointing to "very positive discussions" that took place with Hamas and several countries over the weekend, aimed at releasing hostages and ending the war.

Expected to arrive in Egypt later this week are Jared Kushner, the U.S. President's advisor and son-in-law, and special envoy Steve Whitkoff, to participate in the talks. Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer is expected to join them shortly after their arrival, in a move reflecting the seriousness of the parties in reaching an agreement.

In related news, Yedioth Ahronoth reported, as translated by SadaNews, that Tel Aviv will present during the talks a list of the names of 250 Palestinian prisoners sentenced to life in prison out of 280 currently held in its jails, as part of a potential prisoner exchange deal. Hamas is expected to push for tangible achievements in this file, which represents one of the key negotiation points.

President Trump confirmed that technical teams will meet in Egypt to discuss the final details of the agreement, stressing that "time is of the essence, otherwise much blood will be shed, which is something no one wants to see."
