Egypt: Negotiations Between Israel and Hamas on Monday to End the War on Gaza
SadaNews - Egypt announced on Saturday evening that it will host indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas on the upcoming Monday, aimed at reaching a deal to end the war on the Gaza Strip under the plan of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that "as part of ongoing Egyptian efforts in coordination with mediators aimed at ending the Israeli war in Gaza, Egypt will host delegations from Israel and Hamas on October 6, 2025, to discuss providing the necessary field conditions and details of the process to exchange all Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners according to the proposal made by U.S. President Donald Trump, hoping to put an end to the war and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, which has continued for two consecutive years.
It noted that these consultations come within the framework of efforts to build on the regional and international momentum achieved following the proposal of the U.S. President's plan to end the war in Gaza.
In this context, U.S. President's envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner are heading to Egypt today to assist in finalizing the details of the plan to end the war in Gaza, according to a White House official.
The official, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that Kushner and Witkoff are visiting Egypt to finalize the details of the release process.
Qatar and Egypt, which mediate the indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, welcomed the latter's response to Trump's plan to end the war on Gaza, affirming their readiness to continue mediating discussions on the plan to ensure an end to the conflict.
The plan, which was endorsed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stipulates a ceasefire and the release of all captives held in the Strip within 72 hours, the disarmament of Hamas, and a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, followed by the establishment of a transitional authority headed by Trump.
The plan consists of twenty items, including the exit of its fighters and leaders from the territory to other countries, and the management of Gaza by a Palestinian committee of technocrats and international experts, under the supervision of a council chaired by Trump himself, which includes former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
