Gaza City: Death of an Infant and Evacuation of 3 Preterm Babies from Al-Haloo Hospital to Southern Gaza

SadaNews - A newborn baby has died, and 3 preterm infants were transferred from Al-Haloo Hospital in the Nasser neighborhood of Gaza City to hospitals in southern Gaza, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, according to a health official in Gaza Strip announced on Friday.

This comes after the Israeli army bombed Al-Haloo Hospital on Sunday with two shells, making it difficult to access or exit the hospital, according to a previous statement from the government media office in Gaza.

According to what was reported by Anadolu Agency from eyewitnesses, the Israeli army is positioned just meters from the hospital as part of its ground deployment in several main axes in Gaza City, continuing to bomb and demolish residential buildings and facilities in its efforts to occupy the city and displace Palestinians.

Dr. Mohamed Abu Salmiya, the director of Shifa Hospital, stated in a post on Facebook that "it was supposed to transfer 4 of the preterm infants to hospitals in southern Gaza, but one of them died yesterday, and currently, 3 other infants are being transferred due to the critical condition they are in."

Abu Salmiya noted that "10 preterm infants are still in the NICU of Al-Haloo Hospital," calling for the protection of the remaining hospitals and medical staff in Gaza City.

On Wednesday, the Israeli army announced a ban on the movement of Palestinians from central and southern Gaza to northern Gaza via the "Al-Rashid Road," which connects parts of the strip along its western expanse, in a new step to tighten the siege and isolate areas from each other.

"Al-Rashid Road" represents the main coastal road that connects the north of the strip to the south, and Palestinians rely on it for their movements, especially after the Israeli army closed "Saladin Street" in the east of the strip during the ongoing assault.

For weeks, the Israeli army has intensified its bloody bombardment of Gaza City and the demolition of its residential buildings, aiming to force residents to evacuate in preparation for the occupation of the city.
