The European Union Welcomes Trump's Plan and Urges Parties to Press Hamas to Accept It

Translation by SadaNews - The European Union welcomed, this evening, Thursday, the commitment of U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war in the Gaza Strip, providing an exit from this devastating conflict, ensuring an immediate ceasefire and the release of all remaining hostages, and ensuring the provision of full humanitarian assistance to Gaza, with a pivotal role for the United Nations and its agencies, which have always been core priorities for the European Union, according to its statement.

The European Union announced in its statement, as translated by SadaNews, its support for the principles set out by President Trump regarding the disarmament of Hamas with no role in future governance, the removal of any threat to Israel and its people, the non-occupation of Gaza, and the non-displacement of Palestinians.

It stated that respect for international law, including international humanitarian law, is imperative.

It added: Transition arrangements should pave the way for a lasting and sustainable peace through a reliable path towards a political horizon for the establishment of a Palestinian state and a two-state solution, based on principles endorsed by a large majority of UN member states, referring to the high-level international conference for the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, which was held on September 22, under the initiative of France and Saudi Arabia.

The statement said that the European Union, thanks to its firm commitment to the Palestinian people and its support for regional integration and reform of the Palestinian Authority, and in light of its return to Gaza as well, is ready to make a valuable contribution to this plan through various available tools, and we are ready to cooperate with our regional partners to work together on the next steps, according to the text of the statement.

The European Union welcomed Israel's decision to support the plan.

It urged Hamas to follow it, release all remaining hostages, and lay down its arms, calling on influential actors to convey these messages to Hamas, that there is no military solution to this conflict.

It called on all parties to seize this opportunity and engage constructively to end the tragedy in Gaza immediately and begin the process of building a better future for Israelis, Palestinians, and the entire region.
