Israeli Occupation Army Announces Elimination of Hezbollah Leaders
SadaNews - The Israeli occupation army announced on Tuesday the successful execution of a military operation in southern Lebanon that resulted in the death of two leaders from the Lebanese Hezbollah.
The army reported that the strike targeted Mohammed Abbas Shaashouh, responsible for artillery shelling in the Sahrour area, as well as the elimination of Mohammed Hussein Yasin, a prominent leader in the party's artillery unit in the Shaqif area.
The statement mentioned that "Shaashouh was behind the launch of multiple rocket fire towards the Kiryat Shmona area and the Golan Heights, and he recently worked on rebuilding infrastructure in southern Lebanon and executing plans that threaten Israeli forces."
According to the statement, "Mohammed Hussein Yasin participated in planning and executing operations against the Galilee Finger area and Kiryat Shmona, and contributed to rebuilding the organization's capabilities and transferring weaponry to the southern Litani region."
The army affirmed that Hezbollah's activities represent a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, stressing that its forces will continue to work to eliminate any threats to the state's security.
In contrast, Lebanese authorities have repeatedly confirmed that Israel continues to systematically violate Lebanon's sovereignty, despite the ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024.
They added that Israeli forces remain stationed at five strategic points in southern Lebanon, including the northern part of the village of Ghajar, which the Lebanese authorities consider ongoing occupation and a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
