SadaNews - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is visiting Cairo, welcomed the initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing "the importance of supporting this peaceful initiative to pave the way for a pathway toward achieving lasting and comprehensive peace in the region."
El-Sisi received Ben Zayed on Monday at the Ittihadiya Palace (East Cairo), who is visiting Egypt as part of a "fraternal visit," according to the "Egyptian Presidency," which confirmed that the visit comes as "a continuation of the ongoing consultations and close coordination between the leaderships of the two brotherly countries."
The meeting included, according to the Egyptian statement, a wide-ranging meeting that included delegations from both countries, followed by a closed bilateral meeting between the two leaders, and then a working lunch held in honor of the Emirati president and his accompanying delegation.
The Egyptian president affirmed the "depth and strength of the bilateral relations between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates," praising the "remarkable development in cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially in trade and investment."
El-Sisi expressed the "keenness of the Egyptian state to overcome all obstacles in front of Emirati investments," appreciating the "leap that the economic relations between the two sides are witnessing." The Egyptian statement quoted Mohammed bin Zayed as "commending the significant development in the investment climate in Egypt, reflecting the efforts made to enhance the business environment and attract investments."
The discussions also addressed regional developments, primarily the situation in the Gaza Strip. The two leaders, according to the statement, expressed their "welcome of the initiative proposed by President Donald Trump to stop the war in the sector, emphasizing the importance of supporting this peaceful initiative to pave the way for a pathway toward achieving lasting and comprehensive peace in the region."
This visit by the Emirati president to Egypt is the second within just a month, after he met with El-Sisi at the end of August in Alamein City on the northern coast, in a visit that lasted several days.
