Hamas Responds to President Abbas's Speech at the United Nations General Assembly
SadaNews - Hamas stated on Thursday evening that the Palestinian resistance is a national and moral responsibility that derives its legitimacy from the steadfast Palestinian people, and from their natural right to resist occupation, as recognized by international laws and regulations. We completely reject any alignment with the false Zionist narrative that seeks to distort the truth by accusing us of targeting civilians. Hamas added that all attempts to impose guardianship over the Palestinian people and their will will fail, considering President Abbas's assertion that Hamas will not play a role in governance as an encroachment on the rightful prerogative of the Palestinian people to determine their own fate and choose their leaders, and a rejected submission to external dictates and projects. The movement emphasized that the weapon of resistance cannot be compromised as long as the occupation is entrenched on the land and in the hearts of the people. Hamas condemned President Abbas's demand for its surrender, especially in light of what the Palestinian people in Gaza are experiencing amid a brutal campaign of genocide, and the crimes and barbaric assaults committed by armed settlers and the occupation army against unarmed civilians in the occupied West Bank. The movement concluded that the only way to protect the national cause and confront the fascist occupation projects aimed at exterminating and displacing the people of Gaza, annexing the West Bank, and judaizing Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, is through national unity and consensus on a comprehensive struggle program against the criminal Zionist occupation, until the aspirations of the Palestinian people for liberation and return are realized, and the establishment of the Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem.
