No Shelter or Security: Occupation Drowns Southern Gaza with Random Tents and Health Hazards

SadaNews: The Government Media Office in Gaza has issued an urgent appeal warning of the worsening humanitarian disaster faced by hundreds of thousands of displaced persons in the region, as a result of the ongoing Israeli occupation's crime of forced displacement against the civilian population. This has led to an unprecedented collapse in the humanitarian situation, particularly in the central and southern governorates, most notably in the Mawasi area, which can no longer accommodate more displaced individuals.

The statement clarified that the enormous overcrowding has forced the displaced persons to set up makeshift tents in uninhabitable areas, amidst conditions that lack even the most basic necessities of life. This is compounded by insane increases in transportation prices and the unavailability of new tents due to the closure of crossings and the prohibition on their entry, in clear violation of international law and humanitarian protocols. It noted that the little available of these tents is sold at exorbitant prices beyond the means of the exhausted citizens.

Regarding the security situation, the media office confirmed that the occupation is following a "chaos engineering" policy by supporting criminal gangs with weapons and fire cover, which amplifies the security risks for the displaced individuals and threatens their safety. The statement also documented the ongoing criminal targeting of the displaced during their movement towards the south, where hospitals there received hundreds of injured due to these assaults, in a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that what is happening is a systematic policy to perpetuate the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, holding the Israeli occupation, the U.S. administration, and the countries involved in the genocide fully legally and morally responsible for these crimes. It called on the international community to take immediate and serious action to provide protection for the civilian population and to halt these violations.
