Axios Reveals Trump’s Plan and Demands of Arab Leaders Regarding Gaza
SadaNews - The American Axios website reported on Wednesday evening that President Donald Trump’s plan regarding the future of the Gaza Strip, which he presented to leaders of Arab and Islamic nations, stipulates the need for the release of all hostages and a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
According to the website, the plan also included a gradual Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, a "day after" plan that entails a governance system without Hamas, and the establishment of a security force from an Arab nation in the sector, with Arab funding for the new administration in Gaza, along with a specific role for the Palestinian Authority.
It noted that Arab leaders presented Trump with conditions, the most prominent being: that Israel should not annex parts of the West Bank, not occupy areas in the sector, not establish settlements there, cease infringing on the status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and ensure the immediate flow of aid to the sector.
One official said after the meeting: "We left the meeting with great hopes, for the first time we feel there is a serious plan on the table, and President Trump wants the war to end and to advance in a way that serves the interests of the region."
Two sources who participated in the meeting indicated that Trump made it clear to Arab leaders that he would not allow Israel to annex parts of the West Bank.
At the end of the meeting, the Arab and Muslim leaders expressed their support for the American principles and committed to participating in the "day after" plan.
A follow-up meeting was held that included U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. envoy Steve Wittekov, and the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and Egypt.
Channel 12 reported that senior Israeli officials expressed no surprise at Trump’s intention to put forward a plan to end the war in Gaza.
According to the channel, in Israel they now understand that Trump wants to outline a clear principles plan, primarily to resolve the "day after" issue with moderate Arab countries, and persuade them to mobilize an Arab force in Gaza under American auspices to take civil responsibility in the sector, while implementing some steps in coordination with Israel.
