Al-Shara from New York: Syria has become a country that represents an opportunity for peace and prosperity in the region
SadaNews - The Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara, in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, stated that Syria has become a country that represents an opportunity for peace and prosperity in the region, pointing out that "the previous regime killed nearly one million people, destroyed around two million homes, and used the most horrific tools of torture against our people."
President al-Shara pledged to bring all those who have blood on their hands to justice, noting that Syria's unique achievement has led some parties to attempt to stir sectarian strife in an effort to divide the country.
Al-Shara called for the complete lifting of all sanctions on his country so that they do not become a tool to restrain Syrians again, stating, "We have adopted a policy based on diplomacy and stability, and we pledge to adhere to the disengagement agreement."
The Syrian President affirmed support for the people of Gaza and its children, calling for an immediate halt to the war.
He continued: "Syria today is rebuilding itself and is a country of civilization that deserves to be a state of law," expressing gratitude to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States.
