Trump invites leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey to a summit on the war in Gaza in New York

SadaNews - The American administration is holding a summit on the war in the Gaza Strip, with participation from Cairo, Doha, Amman, Ankara, and Abu Dhabi, in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly next Tuesday, according to an Israeli media report on Sunday evening.

Israeli Channel 12 reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has invited the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey to a meeting in New York regarding the war in the Gaza Strip.

It added that the summit will discuss the war on Gaza and the "day after" the war, according to sources not named by the channel.

The summit comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to travel to the United States days later to discuss various topics, primarily the recognition of a Palestinian state by several countries.

In a related context, the Israeli Prime Minister held a meeting on Sunday regarding the recognition of Palestine and to discuss how Tel Aviv should respond to this, during which it was suggested that Israel's response could be what Channel 12 described as "imposing sovereignty in various forms".

In a coordinated international move, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom announced earlier on Sunday their official recognition of the State of Palestine, while other countries are preparing to take the same step, marking a historic shift in the Western position on the Palestinian issue in light of the Israeli genocide against the Gaza Strip.
