Syria: Occupation Forces Advance into the Towns of Jabata al-Khashab and Oufania in Quneitra Countryside
SadaNews - The Syrian News Channel reported early this Wednesday that Israeli occupation forces have advanced into the towns of Jabata al-Khashab and Oufania in the northern Quneitra countryside in southern Syria, marking the latest aggression against Syrian territory.
The channel added that Israeli forces conducted searches and established a presence on rooftops amid the flying of drones in Quneitra countryside.
This latest Israeli incursion comes after Syria, Jordan, and the United States agreed yesterday, Tuesday, on a roadmap to resolve the crisis in the Sweida Governorate and achieve stability in southern Syria, indicating that Washington will work, with Jordanian support and in consultation with Damascus, to reach security understandings with Israel.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry stated that these understandings "address the legitimate security concerns of both Syria and Israel while affirming Syria's sovereignty."
Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara had stated in an interview with the Syrian News Channel a few days ago that his country is currently engaged in negotiations to reach a security agreement "to return Israel to what it was before December 8th."
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, Israeli forces have invaded the buffer zone in the Golan Heights, occupying more Syrian land and launching hundreds of airstrikes on military sites across Syria.
Damascus has condemned the Israeli attacks and repeated incursions in Quneitra, Daraa, and the countryside of Damascus, asserting that they hinder efforts to achieve stability and represent a violation of international law and the 1974 disengagement agreement.
