Israeli Occupation Forces Penetrate into Two Towns in Southern Syria Concurrently with Drone Flights
SadaNews - The Syrian news channel reported early on Wednesday morning that Israeli occupation forces penetrated into the towns of Jabata Al-Khashab and Ovania in the northern countryside of Quneitra in southern Syria, marking the latest violation of Syrian territory.
The channel added that Israeli forces conducted inspection operations and deployed on the rooftops of houses amid drone flights over the Quneitra countryside.
This latest Israeli incursion comes after Syria, along with Jordan and the United States, adopted a roadmap on Tuesday for resolving the crisis in the Suwayda Governorate and achieving stability in southern Syria, indicating that Washington will work, with Jordanian support and in consultation with Damascus, to reach security understandings with Israel.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry stated that these understandings "address the legitimate security concerns of both Syria and Israel while reaffirming Syria's sovereignty."
President Ahmed Al-Shara of Syria stated in an interview with the Syrian news channel a few days ago that his country is currently in negotiations to reach a security agreement "to revert Israel to its status prior to December 8, 2024."
Since the fall of Bashar Al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, Israeli forces have invaded the buffer zone in the Golan Heights, occupying more Syrian territory and launching hundreds of airstrikes on military sites across Syria.
Damascus has condemned the Israeli aggressions and repeated incursions in Quneitra, Daraa, and the countryside of Damascus, asserting that these actions hinder efforts to achieve stability and constitute a violation of international law and the 1974 disengagement agreement.
