Trump wrote on "Truth Social": "The great, even legendary Charlie Kirk has passed away." He added, no one understood the feelings of youth in America more than Kirk..." He ordered flags to be flown at half-mast across the United States for a week in honor of his memory.

Trump accused the rhetoric of the "radical left" of contributing to the assassination of his close ally, the right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, whom he described as a "martyr of truth and freedom."

Kirk, a Trump supporter in the United States, was shot on Wednesday during a public meeting.

The 31-year-old podcast host, known for his debates with students, was attending an event at Utah Valley University in the west of the country when he was targeted, according to the university.

The university stated on its website that "Kirk was escorted out of the building by his security guards.. and a suspect has been arrested."

The incident occurred during Kirk's tour titled "American Comeback Tour" at Utah Valley University. Videos published on social media showed the moment he was shot while on stage and falling during a Q&A session, causing a panic among the students who fled the scene.

Kirk, (born October 14, 1993) is a conservative political and media activist. He serves as the executive director and co-founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), one of the leading conservative organizations aimed at youth, and also leads other affiliated organizations such as Turning Point Action, Turning Point Academy, and Turning Point Faith.

He hosts a radio program titled The Charlie Kirk Show and is regarded as one of the most influential voices in conservative political activism in the United States.

According to observers, the shooting comes amid a rise in political violence across the entire ideological spectrum in the United States.
