
Their renewed condemnation of the aggression against Qatar.. President Abbas meets with King of Jordan
SadaNews - The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, met today, Wednesday, in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, in the presence of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II.
The President discussed with the King of Jordan the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, briefing him on the Palestinian movement on the international stage. They also discussed a number of topics, primarily the Israeli aggression against Qatar, renewing their condemnation of this brutal attack, highlighting the importance of standing by Qatar, and taking practical and deterrent measures against the Israeli occupation state, within the framework of Arab-Islamic consultation to ensure this does not happen again. They also discussed enhancing brotherly relations between the two countries and both peoples and ways to develop them in all fields.
The President expressed his great appreciation for the important role played by Jordan, under the leadership of the King, in stopping the continuing Israeli aggression against our Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and preventing displacement.
President Abbas reiterated that the current Palestinian priorities include an immediate and permanent ceasefire, ensuring unconditional entry of humanitarian aid to halt genocide, famine, destruction, and displacement, as well as the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza. Additionally, he emphasized the need for the State of Palestine to assume full governmental and security responsibilities with Arab and international support, and to begin implementing the early recovery and reconstruction plan.
He stressed the necessity for the international community to take practical and serious steps to prevent Israel from implementing its plans to annex the West Bank and impose sovereignty over it, to hasten the cessation of settlement activities and settler terrorism, and to release the withheld Palestinian funds.
The President and the King of Jordan also discussed the ongoing developments related to the holding of a high-level international conference on the Palestinian issue and the two-state solution, scheduled for September 22nd in New York, under the joint auspices of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic.
Both sides affirmed the continuation of joint coordination between the two brotherly countries to support the Palestinian position seeking to end the occupation in accordance with international legitimacy and international law, obtaining further recognitions of the State of Palestine, and acquiring full membership in the United Nations.
Attending the meeting from the Palestinian side were: the head of the International Relations Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Ziad Abu Amro, the President's adviser for diplomatic affairs, Majdi Khalidi, and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Jordan, Attallah Khairy.
From the Jordanian side, the meeting was attended by: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and the King's Office Director, Alaa Al-Batayneh.
