SadaNews - The official "IRNA" agency reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will meet in Egypt with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, to conclude negotiations on a new cooperation protocol between Iran and the agency, after Tehran suspended its cooperation last July.
The date of the meeting has not yet been determined, and Araghchi will also make a visit to Tunisia.
This meeting comes as part of talks to resume full inspections of Iran's main nuclear sites, following Israeli and American bombings in June that led to the destruction of nuclear facilities and the deaths of over a thousand people.
Israel bombed nuclear, military facilities, and residential areas, resulting in more than a thousand casualties. The United States, an ally of Israel, intervened in the war and bombed three nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz.
Iran responded by launching missile attacks that destroyed vital infrastructure in Israel, alongside killing dozens of Israelis.
Tehran had suspended its cooperation with the agency in protest against their failure to condemn the attack, asserting that any future cooperation would take "a new form."
Despite the return of a team of agency inspectors to oversee the replacement of fuel at the Bushehr nuclear power plant, full cooperation has not yet resumed.
Iran continues its discussions with the three European countries involved in the 2015 agreement (France, Britain, and Germany), which triggered the "snapback mechanism" to enforce the re-imposition of UN sanctions on Tehran if no settlement is reached within thirty days.
Western countries assert that Iran may seek to develop military nuclear capabilities, while Tehran denies these allegations and defends its right to develop a nuclear program for peaceful purposes.
