Sisi: The Situation in Gaza is Catastrophic, and We Reject the Displacement of Palestinians and Attempts to Impose Sovereignty over the West Bank
SadaNews - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stated today, Monday, that the situation in the Gaza Strip has reached unprecedented humanitarian disaster levels, emphasizing that Israel has persisted for nearly two years in committing heinous acts of murder, using starvation as a weapon against civilians.
The Egyptian president added, during his virtual participation in the extraordinary summit of member states and governments of the "BRICS" grouping, which was convened at the invitation of the Republic of Brazil, that Israel has continued to expand its military operations with the aim of destroying the means of life to force Palestinians to leave their land and implement a plan for forced displacement.
He affirmed his country's steadfast position, categorically rejecting any scenario targeting the displacement of Palestinians from their land under any pretext, as that represents an attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause, bury the two-state solution, expand the reach of the conflict, and threaten the peace framework in the Middle East.
The Egyptian president elaborated that his country had prepared a comprehensive plan for early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, which received Arab and Islamic approval and widespread support from international partners, a plan that has proven beyond any doubt that rebuilding the strip is possible while Palestinians remain on their land.
He reiterated Egypt's condemnation and complete rejection of attempts to impose Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank and plans aimed at building new settlements to change the legal and demographic status of the occupied Palestinian territories, imposing a new reality that undermines the Palestinian people's right to establish their independent state.
He noted the tireless efforts that Egypt has made and continues to make to reach an immediate ceasefire, ensure the flow of humanitarian assistance, and release hostages and prisoners, in preparation for starting arrangements for the next phase of managing and reconstructing the sector.
He called for support for ongoing efforts to revive the two-state solution process and recognize the Palestinian people's right to establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with "East Jerusalem" as its capital, in a manner that consolidates peace and stability in the Middle East and the world fairly and sustainably.
