Hamas: Open to Any Proposal that Achieves a Permanent Ceasefire in Gaza

SadaNews - On Saturday evening, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas reaffirmed its commitment and adherence to the agreement it announced with Palestinian factions regarding the mediators' proposal for a ceasefire on August 18.

The Hamas movement stated in a press release that it is "open to any ideas or proposals that achieve a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, unconditional entry of aid, and a genuine prisoner exchange through serious negotiations with the mediators."

Targeting residential towers crowded with displaced individuals, women, and children under the pretext of their use by the resistance is a blatant lie.

In a previous statement, Hamas emphasized that the destruction of a new residential tower by the occupying army in Gaza City represents a clear continuation of committing the crime of forcible displacement and ethnic cleansing.

The movement said: "Targeting residential towers crowded with displaced individuals, women, and children, under the pretext of their use by the resistance, is a blatant lie and flimsy excuses, representing a disregard for the international community and covering up for completed war crimes that rise to the level of genocide."

It continued: "The destruction of a new residential tower by the occupying army today in Gaza City, the threat to target more buildings, and the confirmation by the terrorist Minister of War (Israel Katz) to continue this criminal policy; is a clear continuation of committing the crime of systematic forcible displacement and ethnic cleansing against innocent civilians."

It added that this is "an attempt to uproot the population from their city, under the pressure of massacres and the destruction of all means of life," warning that "the continuation of these crimes aims to completely destroy the city of Gaza and impose a comprehensive forcible displacement on its inhabitants, in an unprecedented crime in modern history."

Hamas called on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to "leave the square of silence and take immediate action to stop the brutal Zionist attack aimed at destroying the city of Gaza and displacing its residents," urging Arab and Islamic countries and the free people of the world to "take urgent and effective action to hold the leaders of the occupation accountable, at the forefront of whom is Netanyahu as a war criminal."

On Saturday, the Israeli occupation army destroyed the "Susi" tower, which has 15 floors and includes more than 60 apartments, in the western part of Gaza City, following the destruction of the "Mashtaha" tower in the same city on Friday, amidst fears of the bombing's repercussions on the situation of about a million Palestinians living in the city, most of whom are displaced.

With American support, the occupation army has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 64,368 martyrs, 162,367 injured Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, over 9,000 missing, and hundreds of thousands of displaced individuals, with famine claiming the lives of 382 Palestinians, including 135 children.
