Trump: The Gaza War May End in Two or Three Weeks
Sada News - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that the situation in the Gaza Strip is horrific, noting that this war will witness what he described as a "decisive end" within two or three weeks.
Trump added in statements made at the White House: "The Gaza War must end due to the hunger and death it causes."
He stated that there is a "very serious" diplomatic effort regarding Gaza.
He pointed out that he has dealt extensively with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and they achieved remarkable success in Iran and eliminated its nuclear threat.
Prior to this statement, he reiterated his controversial remarks regarding the number of living Israeli hostages in Gaza.
He said: "I believe there are fewer than 20 hostages alive, perhaps one or two have died."
These remarks sparked controversy and prompted Israel to reaffirm that it has information indicating that there are 20 hostages alive.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke alongside Trump at the White House before a meeting with the South Korean president, stating: "The (conflict) has never stopped. We are always seeking to find a solution, or ultimately as the president said, we want it to end. It must end without the presence of (Hamas)," according to Reuters.
Earlier, Trump expressed his discontent with the Israeli raid that resulted in the deaths of 20 people, including five journalists, indicating that he was not aware of it. Trump told reporters at the White House: "I am not happy about it. I don't want to see it. At the same time, we have to end this nightmare."
For his part, Steve Witkoff, the U.S. president's envoy, hoped that the twenty Israeli hostages are alive in Gaza.
