
Government Call Center Tracks Key Interventions Implemented by the Government During Last Week
SadaNews - The Government Call Center issued a report highlighting the most important developmental and reform interventions implemented by the Palestinian government during last week (17/08/2025 – 23/08/2025), which are as follows:
The Ministry of Public Works completed the paving of the Jalazone-Dura Al-Qari' road in Ramallah and Al-Bireh, which is considered a main entrance to the city from the northern governorates and the villages northeast of it. The ministry also began the second phase of the construction project for the Soofin-Qalqilya bypass road, measuring 2.3 km in length and 12-16 m in width, with a budget of 1.4 million dollars funded by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, under the supervision of the Islamic Development Bank, aimed at alleviating congestion and enhancing traffic movement. Additionally, the ministry has begun works on the Izun-Kafr Thulth project in Qalqilya.
The Ministry of Local Government completed a series of vital projects including: rehabilitating and paving streets in Beit Kahil valued at 250,000 dollars, internal roads in Kafr Aboush in Tulkarm valued at 230,000 dollars, and the Qasatin road between Idna and the Kum valued at 2 million shekels with a contribution of 600,000 shekels from the ministry. Projects on public service centers in Beit Oura Tahta, Taybeh, and Baqa Al-Sharqiya were also completed at a cost of 132,000 euros, along with the first phase of the 25th street in Nablus costing 372,000 euros, and paving roads in Al-Ram, Jerusalem, valued at 260,000 euros. Additionally, financial settlement works were completed in 5 local bodies, bringing the total to 101 entities, and a memorandum of understanding was signed with the United Nations Development Programme to support reform efforts and digital transformation.
The Ministry of Agriculture implemented a series of interventions and projects to enhance agricultural development and support farmers in various governorates, distributing, in cooperation with the Palestinian Center for Economic and Social Development, production supplies to rehabilitate cabins for 150 farmers in villages north of Jerusalem funded by the Arab Fund for Economic Development. It also distributed gardening equipment to 13 farmers in southern Hebron funded by the Women's Development and Media Association. The ministry supervised the opening of the Dragon Farm model in Arrana, Jenin, and decided to open an agricultural and veterinary office in Idna, Hebron to support farmers, while providing, in cooperation with the Agricultural Relief, greenhouse materials to 35 farmers and open field farmers in Gaza as part of the "Export" project. Additionally, an agreement was supervised to implement solar cells to operate an agricultural well with a capacity of 25 kilowatts in Aqaba, Tubas, through the "Livelihood Development" project, which concluded a specialized training course on post-harvest techniques for vegetables with the participation of 40 farmers and agricultural engineers, funded by Italian cooperation in partnership with "CIHEAM-Bari." On the partnership front, the ministry signed a memorandum of understanding with the Presidential Guard to rehabilitate agricultural lands in Jericho and the Jordan Valley and discussed cooperation with the Jordanian-Palestinian company and (We Effect), concluding a technical meeting with representatives from "FAO" and "GIZ" to discuss the integration of electronic systems and the development of the ministry's digital infrastructure.
Last week witnessed a wide diplomatic movement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates centered on enhancing international recognition of the State of Palestine and supporting the outcomes of the New York Conference related to the peace settlement and the two-state solution, alongside documenting cooperation with international partners to support humanitarian and relief efforts in Gaza and the West Bank. The minister held meetings with her counterparts and representatives from Britain, the Netherlands, Norway, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, and honorary consuls, during which she called for intensifying international movements to support Palestine and provide protection for our people, welcoming Britain's intention to recognize the Palestinian state, discussing government reforms, and projects to develop higher education through academic partnerships. She also discussed with the United Nations enhancing humanitarian coordination in Gaza and the West Bank and ensuring its reports reflect the ground reality.
The Minister of Labor confirmed that the recovery and temporary job creation program will provide around 6,250 job opportunities for skilled and unskilled laborers during the ministry's contract with local governance to conduct a workshop introducing the program. The ministry discussed joint professional programs with An-Najah University that meet market requirements. A specialized training was also conducted for the inspection managers at the National School of Administration, along with field visits to enhance occupational safety and health. Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Visual Arts Forum to support youth in vocational technical education, and dialog sessions were held with local institutions to promote the role of youth and women in the labor market and organize the private sector through effective employment platforms.
The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation signed two agreements with the Republic of Korea amounting to 24 million dollars to support artificial intelligence research and integrated regional development in Sepsis, as well as discussing humanitarian aid for Gaza with the Korean International Cooperation Agency and upcoming agreements with the United Nations valued at 30 million dollars to support housing, food, and water, and discussing with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Norwegian Embassy the preparations for the next donors' meeting and the financial crisis resulting from the detention of clearance funds. The minister met with the representative of Canada Graham Datliss to discuss enhancing cooperation, praising Canada's political positions and its direction towards recognizing Palestine, confirming the importance of coordinating Canadian support with national priorities and the program for government reform.
The Minister of Industry confirmed that establishing the industrial zone in Deir Astia represents a strategic priority for developing the furniture industry and enhancing the resilience of the residents of Salfit in facing settlement and economic pressures. The ministry issued 7 licenses for establishing new industrial facilities and a first-time operation license with a capital of 270,000 dinars providing 17 job opportunities, in addition to renewing 19 industrial licenses and two quarry licenses, conducting 21 oversight rounds on facilities, addressing 3 complaints, and issuing 2 accreditation certificates.
The head of the Energy Authority discussed with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy the state of electricity in Kafr Diq and Barqeen, where it was agreed to develop networks to improve service and support economic activities through a joint work plan to meet the needs of the two towns. The head of the Energy Authority also discussed the steps for establishing the Tulkarm Electricity Distribution Company, including a mechanism for settling previous debts in coordination with the government, aiming to improve service and ensure the stability of the electrical current, especially during peak times, emphasizing the importance of partnership to successfully complete the project and meet citizens' needs.
The Ministry of Women's Affairs enhanced the economic and social empowerment of women through partnerships with "GIZ" and projects such as "Thabri" to enhance job-related training and productive projects, discussing the reality of Palestinian women with civil societies. In Gaza, it focused on empowering women as mediators in peacebuilding, developing national guidelines for alternative solutions, and expanding training and awareness. The ministry also implemented comprehensive disability programs and supported economic empowerment with the Ramallah Chamber of Commerce, and held workshops for staff on law and public service. The minister highlighted the effects of aggression on women and girls, including the risk of famine for more than a million of them in Gaza.
The Council of Heads of Palestinian Universities, chaired by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, discussed the latest developments in higher education assistance in Gaza and preparations for the new academic year, where the minister signed an agreement with Al-Zaytouna University to make student loan fund loans available to its students. The ministry and the Anti-Corruption Commission launched the "University Research Competition to Promote Governance and Combat Corruption," and hosted a "Get to Know the Business World KAB" course for several teachers funded by "GIZ," in addition to training programs on time management TEM and digital media for coordinators of the "young press" program. The minister also held supportive meetings with local associations and institutions as preparations continued for the extraordinary session for secondary school students in Gaza, which starts on 6/9/2025 with the participation of over 26,000 students, while the second session for secondary school students involved 9,600 students inside and outside the homeland.
The Ministry of National Economy opened the door for submitting requests for importing goods listed under lists "A1" and "A2" and quota 2025 in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, organized the first Palestinian crafts fair in Jordan with the participation of 41 women via the Jordanian-Palestinian Business Forum. The ministers of economy and industry became familiar with efforts to alleviate the economic crises in Salfit governorate, while the industrial zone in Deir Astia saw the allocation of 231 dunams for furniture production. The economic and industrial exhibition at the American University in Jenin commenced with the participation of more than 35 companies and factories. Violators were referred to the prosecution, with 18 notifications issued, 18.5 tons of expired goods seized, and 20 complaints processed during 80 inspection rounds covering 591 stores. The ministry also registered 58 new companies, provided 677 services, issued 117 import licenses, 37 commercial cards, 32 certificates of origin, 112 commercial certificates, and registered 42 new traders and 38 trademarks while providing various services in the commercial registry and intellectual property.
The Public Authority for Civil Affairs carried out a series of field interventions last week, which included: in Hebron, coordinating the entry of the Minister of Awqaf into the Ibrahim Mosque, facilitating the passage of stranded residents, ensuring farmers’ access, and opening the Fawwar camp gate for participation in a tribal reconciliation, in addition to maintaining water lines between Al-Majd and Al-Baqah. In Jenin, it released two trucks and a vehicle in Qabatiya, facilitated the plowing of Jalmah lands, and the maintenance of plastic houses, and received a bullet injury through the Bartaa crossing. In Nablus, the crews of the North Electricity Company were enabled to repair power lines near the occupation barrier in Deir Sharaf.
The Ministry of Justice signed a cooperation agreement with the Palestinian police and Al-Istiklal University in the field of forensic medicine and criminal laboratories, aimed at establishing, equipping, and operating a forensic medical center and the police labs and organizing joint work mechanisms. The Minister of Justice also discussed with a group of donors the ministry's plan to reactivate the justice sector services in Gaza immediately after the end of the aggression, assuring that achieving justice and the rule of law is a fundamental priority in any future arrangements for the sector.
The Minister of Interior inspected Jenin Governorate and met with the security forces' officers, emphasizing the political level's directives on the necessity of continuing joint fieldwork to maintain security and order and support the resilience of citizens. He visited the housing of displaced persons at the American University and reviewed their conditions, assuring that their case is a priority for the government, continuing to follow up on outstanding issues to ease their suffering. The minister also visited the economic and industrial exhibition "5 Days from Palestine" at the Arab American University to support the student fund and enhance domestic products and the resilience of citizens amid difficult economic conditions.
The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities announced an update to the preliminary list of World Heritage Sites in Palestine, with its files due to be submitted to UNESCO by the end of the year for adoption in July 2026. The minister presided over a meeting of the advisory council for tangible cultural heritage to discuss the establishment of a national museum for archaeological artifacts and ways to confront Israeli assaults on historical sites. He also met with Hayeq and the Governor of Nablus Ghassan Daghlas with activities in Burqa and Sebastia after the occupation prevented a celebration there. The ministry teams continued to intensify their field tours to protect archaeological sites and ensure tourism sites comply with regulations, including inspection tours of tourist villas in Jericho, and inspecting seized archaeological materials in cooperation with the Tourism and Antiquities Police.
The Environmental Quality Authority held a meeting with the environmental sector working group with the European Union to discuss the challenges of the war on Gaza, following up on environmental issues in Bethlehem with the governor to activate joint committees and tighten supervision, and participating in updating the preliminary list of World Heritage Sites. The Authority also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Palestinian Association of Local Authorities to enhance environmental governance and participated in international negotiations to formulate a global treaty to combat plastic pollution. In the field, it conducted 56 inspection rounds, followed up on 9 environmental complaints, and granted 8 approvals for agricultural and industrial projects and broadcasting stations after meeting environmental standards.
The Land Authority registered 33 suspended basins comprising 3,708 parcels covering 6,551 dunams, with final approval on 12 basins including 1,441 parcels covering 2,900 dunams. In the field, tables of rights were suspended and published in Ramallah, Abwein, Hebron, Kafr Thulth, and Tammun. A memorandum of understanding was also signed with the Ministry of Awqaf in Hebron to resolve issues related to waqf lands and a meeting was held for the land governance project committee to support small farmers. The Authority launched the digital property identity "GPKEY" and began implementing the second digital transformation project to develop electronic services and organize ownership, enhancing transparency, expediting settlements, and protecting the rights of citizens.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission supported citizens in the villages and towns of Al-Maghribi and Abu Falah, Kharbatha Bani Harith, and Beit Oura Al-Fouqa, distributing water tanks to enhance their resilience, in addition to hundreds of metallic corners, military checkpoints, and barbwire to confront repeated assaults by settlers.
The Official Gazette issued Issue No. 2 of the Legal Research Journal and published a study on "Alternative Penalties in Palestinian Legislation." It also organized specialized training for security forces on legal opinion and electronic legislation references, and signed a memorandum of understanding with the Human Rights Department in the Palestine Liberation Organization in addition to preparing updated booklets on the security forces' regulations and some Palestinian laws in cooperation with Al-Istiklal University and the Palestinian Judicial Institute.
The Ministry of Culture last week witnessed events to enhance national identity and support creativity. The minister met with the director of the "TIKA" office in Palestine to discuss cooperation, and signed a memorandum with the "Turquoise Mountain" Foundation to support the first national conference on cultural industries and the national exhibition for crafts and arts. The minister visited the Youth Village in Kafr Ni'mah where he and his staff were attacked by the occupation army, and honored Quran memorizers in Hebron. The ministry organized various activities in the governorates including summer camps for children, writing and drawing workshops, artistic exhibitions, heritage activities, digital awareness, and the "Rosna" project in Jerusalem and "Colored Palestine History" in Gaza. It also launched the Najati Sidqi Award 2025, nominated the film "Palestine 36" for the Oscar 2026, and participated in meetings to register pottery on the UNESCO list.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs issued its weekly report highlighting its interventions in several areas, where Palestine ranked fifth globally in the King Abdulaziz International Quran Memorization Competition, while the Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs inspected the complete Quran memorization at the Quran Academy in Al-Bireh, and the ministry organized Quranic events and competitions in several governorates with the participation of hundreds of memorizers. It also launched the solar energy project for the mosques of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, and the "Mosque Sponsorship" campaign, and discussed with Al-Safa Bank establishing solar energy projects in Ramallah and Al-Bireh. The minister presided over the meeting of the Supreme Waqf Property Committee and handed over the tasks of the Zakat Committee in Jericho. He also launched a strategy plan for the years 2025-2027, and signed a memorandum of understanding with the Land Authority to solve waqf land issues.
The Ministry of Transportation signed a memorandum of understanding with Hebron Polytechnic University to accredit heavy equipment operators and occupational safety, and held meetings with its partners to support its strategic plan. The ministry studied 10 new road schemes, 17 amendments, and 38 technical files, approved two plans for new professions, and introduced Code 65 transport facility into the geographic database.
