Sweden Supports Leader Marwan Barghouti and Palestinian Prisoners in Occupation Prisons
SadaNews - The Swedish city of Helsingborg witnessed a massive demonstration today, Saturday, organized by popular activities in the city, in support of the imprisoned leader Marwan Barghouti and all Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons. The demonstration featured images of leader Marwan and banners demanding the freedom of the prisoners and an end to the genocide against our people in Gaza.
The march began from the Suder Square towards the Castle Square, accompanied by chants demanding freedom, justice, and the end of the prisoners' suffering.
Ms. Fadwa Barghouti, a member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah movement, delivered an emotional speech thanking the popular activities and the Swedish parties supporting the prisoners' cause and Palestine, as well as the Swedish supporters, asserting that the morale of prisoner Marwan Barghouti, and all prisoners, remains high despite repression and oppression.
Barghouti pointed out that the prisoners, led by Marwan, face chains and harsh measures with unwavering strength and an unbreakable will. They draw their strength from their people and from every free voice calling for an end to the war and the end of the occupation. She added that the prisoners’ cause is not only a Palestinian issue, but a humanitarian one touching upon the values of freedom and justice worldwide. She also affirmed that brother Marwan has been subjected to solitary confinement since October 7, along with his companions in captivity by the criminal occupation government. She praised the resilience of our people in Gaza and the West Bank, calling on the international community to intervene to stop the genocide against our people in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
Mr. Joran Martinson, a member of the city council of Helsingborg from the Moderates party, also delivered a speech praising leader Marwan Barghouti and his struggle before and after his arrest, as well as the steadfastness of Palestinian prisoners inside the occupation prisons, emphasizing that supporting their cause is part of defending global humanitarian values.
On her part, Ms. Elin Kall, head of the Communist Party, delivered a speech on behalf of the party, extending greetings to leader Marwan Barghouti and the Palestinian prisoners, affirming that their struggle intersects with the international struggle for freedom and dignity.
The participants in the demonstration raised slogans including: "The chains must be broken," "Freedom for the prisoners," and "Freedom for Palestine," sending a strong message to the international community about the urgent need to intervene to stop the violations against Palestinian prisoners and to pressure for their release, recognizing them as freedom fighters, not criminals.
This demonstration comes as part of ongoing action in the city of Helsingborg and the Kingdom of Sweden in general, aimed at highlighting the issue of Palestinian prisoners on the global agenda and emphasizing that their freedom represents a humanitarian demand and a long-awaited justice.
