U.S. Army Announces the End of a Round of Strikes Against Iran and Reveals Its Targets
SadaNews: The U.S. Army announced on Thursday morning the end of a new round of strikes against Iran and revealed its targets.
Central Command (CENTCOM) stated, "An additional round of strikes against Iran, which began on Wednesday night, was launched to undermine Iran's ability to attack commercial ships and innocent civilian sailors in the Strait of Hormuz."
The statement added that "U.S. forces targeted around 90 Iranian military sites, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistical infrastructure along the Iranian coast."
These latest strikes come "following a successful execution of offensive strikes in Iran the night before," according to the U.S. statement.
CENTCOM had attacked nearly 80 Iranian military targets on Tuesday night, including more than 60 small boats belonging to the Revolutionary Guard, aiming to "inflict heavy losses on Iran for violating the ceasefire by attacking three commercial ships sailing in the Strait of Hormuz."
CENTCOM concluded the statement by saying, "U.S. forces remain vigilant, strong, and ready to carry out operations directed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces," referring to U.S. President Donald Trump.
The Axios news site quoted a U.S. official stating that U.S. air forces bombed two railway bridges in Iran, marking the first strikes on infrastructure in that country since the ceasefire on April 8.
On the other hand, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Thursday that it targeted U.S. military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait in retaliation for the recent strikes, according to a statement broadcast by Iranian state television.
Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned the United States amid the exchange of new strikes between both sides, emphasizing that "any U.S. attack will be met with a similar response."
Qalibaf, who leads negotiations with the United States and is one of the prominent political figures in Iran, posted on the platform "X": "If you strike, you will receive a strike."
He confirmed that "the Strait of Hormuz will only be opened according to Iranian arrangements, not through U.S. threats."
On Wednesday, Trump expressed his belief that the ceasefire "is over" and launched a fierce attack on the Iranian leadership, describing them as "crazy," "evil," and "scum."
