Israeli Army Commander in the West Bank Threatens Palestinians with Deterrence Amid Village of Mughayir Siege

Translation by SadaNews - Israeli army commander in the West Bank, Avi Blot, threatened on Friday to deter Palestinians in the West Bank if any new attacks are carried out.

This came during his monitoring of the siege of the village of Mughayir, northeast of Ramallah, which has been ongoing for two days following a shooting attack against a group of settlers that resulted in one of them being lightly injured.

Blot stated, as translated by SadaNews, "We are focusing our efforts in the village to capture the gunman who carried out the attack and to deter the entire village from carrying out any attacks."

He added, "Every village and every enemy must know that if they carry out an attack against the residents, they will pay a heavy price. They will witness closures, they will witness sieges, and they will witness various operations to ensure that everyone is deterred," according to him.

The Israeli occupation forces continue, for the second consecutive day, their extensive incursion into the village, which included assaults on citizens and their properties, as well as agricultural lands.

Amine Abu Aliya, head of the Mughayir village council, reported that the occupation forces continue their incursion into the village that began on Thursday morning, amid raids on homes, beatings of citizens, provocations, property destruction, theft of money and gold jewelry, and assaults on citizens' vehicles through smashing and vandalism.

Abu Aliya noted that the occupation forces arrested more than seven young men since dawn, including the brothers of the martyr Hamdan Abu Aliya (18 years old), who was martyred a few days ago in the village, where they were mistreated and severely beaten in front of their mother, causing a difficult psychological state for the family.

He pointed out that hundreds of citizens were forced to spend the night in neighboring villages due to the brutal assault on citizens and their properties in Mughayir.

Additionally, occupation bulldozers since dawn today have been excavating a settlement road from the "Al-Rafid" area up to the "Qulasun" area, to draw new boundaries for the village, causing widespread destruction of thousands of dunams and completely clearing them. It was noted that they began yesterday to bulldoze the eastern plain of Mughayir, adjacent to the settlement road "Alon," most of which is planted with olive trees.

Yesterday, occupation forces closed the entrances to the village and prevented citizens from entering or exiting, including ambulances, and forced shop owners to close their doors, limiting the movement of citizens in the village.

A few days ago, settlers threatened the villagers via mobile phone calls with murder and destruction.

Last year, extremist Ben Gvir set up his tent at the eastern entrance of Mughayir, inciting against the village and demanding the expulsion of its residents, the demolition, and bulldozing of all homes and lands.
