Iran to Discuss Nuclear Talks and Sanctions with European Powers
SadaNews - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will have a joint phone call with his counterparts in France, Britain, and Germany on Friday to discuss nuclear talks and sanctions, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
The three European powers threaten to activate the mechanism for the rapid reimposition of United Nations sanctions on Iran if it does not return to the negotiating table.
These countries, along with the United States, assert that Iran is exploiting its nuclear program potentially to develop nuclear weapons, which Tehran denies.
Iran suspended negotiations with the United States, which aimed to curb its nuclear ambitions, after the United States and Israel struck its nuclear sites in June. Since then, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors have been unable to enter Iranian nuclear facilities, despite IAEA Director Rafael Grossi confirming that inspections remain necessary.
