Libyan Authorities Confirm Foiling Attempt to Target UN Mission Headquarters with Missiles
SadaNews - The Libyan Government of National Unity has announced that it successfully foiled an attempt to target the headquarters of the United Nations mission in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.
According to a statement from the Government of National Unity published on the official platform (Hukumatuna), the government condemned in the strongest terms the failed attempt to target the UN mission's headquarters in Libya, considering it a serious act aimed at undermining security and stability and harming Libya's relations with the international community. The government praised the efforts of the Ministry of Interior and its agencies.
The Libyan authorities confirmed that the security forces were able to detect the attempt and respond swiftly, seizing the vehicle that was equipped with additional missiles and a launch pad, which enabled them to thwart the plot according to the statement.
The authorities also stressed that pursuing the perpetrators and those behind them is a responsibility they will not take lightly, and they will be tracked and brought to justice. They reaffirmed their commitment to their plan aimed at building professional and unified security institutions and ending the presence of unlawful armed formations, thereby enhancing the stability of the state and the rule of law.
