Salam during his meeting with King Abdullah: Netanyahu's statements about "Greater Israel" are a direct threat to Arab security

SadaNews - Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced on Tuesday his country's rejection of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements regarding the so-called "Greater Israel," considering them a direct threat to Arab national security and a blatant violation of international law. This came during a meeting that Salam held in the Jordanian capital Amman with King Abdullah II, attended by Crown Prince Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah and Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, according to a statement issued by the media office of the Lebanese Prime Minister. Salam stated that "Lebanon stands united with other Arab and Islamic countries in its firm rejection of the statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding what is called Greater Israel." He added that "these statements pose a direct threat to Arab national security and represent a blatant violation of international law." The Lebanese Prime Minister condemned "the ongoing Israeli policies of displacement, expansion, and massacres in the Gaza Strip," stressing that this "requires the international community to assume its responsibilities in protecting the Palestinian people and confronting the Israeli policies that threaten the stability of the entire region," according to the statement. On another note, he reiterated his thanks to the Jordanian government for its "continuous support for Lebanon in various fields, especially support for the Lebanese army, and supporting Lebanon in international forums, particularly to pressure Israel to withdraw from the Lebanese territories it still occupies and to stop its daily aggressions." He affirmed that "his country adheres to the Arab peace initiative adopted at the Beirut Summit in 2002, and on the other hand emphasizes the importance of strengthening stability in Syria and preserving its unity and territorial integrity." Salam arrived in Amman on Tuesday as part of an unannounced visit and held talks with his Jordanian counterpart Jaafar Hassan, covering bilateral relations and regional developments. For his part, King Abdullah II confirmed his country's firm rejection of Israel's plans aimed at expanding its influence in the West Bank and the region, according to a statement issued by the Jordanian royal court. He reiterated the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and increasing the flow of humanitarian aid to Palestinians to alleviate their suffering. Regarding the Lebanese file, King Abdullah confirmed Jordan's support for Lebanon's security and stability, and the preservation of its sovereignty, pointing to the importance of "expanding cooperation between Jordan and Lebanon in various fields, especially economic." He called for "sustaining coordination with brotherly and friendly countries to achieve regional stability." On another note, King Abdullah stressed that "the security and stability of Syria is a common priority," noting that "Jordan supports the efforts of the Syrian brothers in preserving the stability of their country, its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens."
