"No injuries reported".. Explosion of a bomb inside a car in Damascus

SadaNews - The Syrian news agency (SANA) and the official "Al-Ikhbariya" channel reported that a bomb exploded last night, Saturday, inside an old car in the Mazzeh area of the capital Damascus, with no injuries reported.

SANA indicated that "an explosion was heard in the Mazzeh area - an upscale area that includes embassies and offices of the United Nations - and the nature of it is being verified."

Later, the head of internal security in Damascus province, Brigadier Osama Muhammad Khair Atika, stated that the explosion "was caused by a bomb that was planted inside an old car... which had been parked for a long time."

The security official confirmed that "no human or material damages have been reported," pointing out that the relevant teams are working at the explosion site "while the specialized units are combing the area to ensure the safety of citizens and to prevent any potential sabotage acts."

The new Syrian administration has been making intensive efforts to maintain security in the country since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, after 24 years in power.
