Poll: 60% of Israelis dissatisfied with Netanyahu's performance; 28% support the occupation of Gaza City

SadaNews - A poll conducted in Israel, the results of which were published on Sunday evening, showed that 60% of Israelis are dissatisfied with the performance of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while only 28% support the occupation of Gaza City.

According to the poll published by the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan 11), participants were asked about their preferred option for ending the war in Gaza, to which 54% responded that they preferred "completely ending the war, withdrawing the Israeli army, releasing the hostages, and releasing Palestinian prisoners."

This comes as Netanyahu reiterated on Sunday evening the "five objectives of the war," adding in a press conference directed at the Israeli public, and in response to threats that jeopardize the stability of his government coalition: "We have instructed the army to take control of (occupy) Gaza City," which he mentioned is a "center of gravity and control" for Hamas.

Netanyahu stated that "subduing Hamas is the only way to recover the hostages, in my opinion."

28% of the poll participants said they preferred expanding the operations of the Israeli army and occupying Gaza City.

3% mentioned they preferred "a partial agreement that includes a ceasefire, the release of some hostages, and the release of Palestinian prisoners in a deal that keeps Hamas in power." 15% responded with "I don't know."

When asked why the Israeli government continues its war on Gaza, 46% answered that it is due to "political considerations, to maintain the coalition."

25% responded with "defeating Hamas," and 19% with "liberating the hostages," while 10% replied with "I don't know."

When asked to evaluate Netanyahu as Prime Minister, 60% rated his management of the war poorly, while 31% rated it well, and 9% answered with "I don't know."

72% of coalition voters rated Netanyahu positively, while 8% of opposition voters rated him poorly.

According to the poll, 25% of coalition voters believe Netanyahu is not managing the war well, while 88% of opposition voters think so.

Netanyahu leading... Lapid falling

In elections for the Knesset taking place today, if a new party led by Knesset member Gadi Eisenkot, who broke away from Benny Gantz, runs, Likud would receive 625 seats, Naftali Bennett’s party 22, "Yisrael Beiteinu" 10, "Shas" 9, and the Democrats 8.

The party led by Eisenkot would get 7 seats, the same for "Yahadut HaTorah," and 6 seats for both "Yesh Atid" led by opposition head Yair Lapid, and "Otzma Yehudit," along with the united list. The Joint Arab List would receive 5 seats, while both "Kahol Lavan" led by Benny Gantz and the Religious Zionism party led by Smotrich would each get 4 seats.

The poll was conducted on August 10, and included 554 individuals aged 18 and over, as part of an electronic sample. 2,450 individuals were asked to participate, with a margin of error estimated at +4.2%.
