Relief Turns into Tragedy: Aerial Drops Leave Victims and Destroy Displaced Persons' Tents in Gaza

SadaNews - The Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza recorded a high level of danger associated with the phenomenon of aerial drops of humanitarian aid, which is exploited by the Israeli occupation as part of its policy of engineering starvation and promoting chaos, thuggery, and the spread of gangs of thieves and highway robbers.

The statement from the Gaza Interior Ministry continued: "Aerial drops of aid boxes cause injuries to a large number of citizens during the rush to obtain them, and sometimes result in casualties. Additionally, many of these boxes fall directly on citizens' homes and the tents of displaced individuals, leading to fatalities among them, including women and children, the latest of whom were today in northern Gaza. Furthermore, it causes the destruction of tents and significant damage to citizens' homes and properties."

It added: "All of this is accompanied by the limited quantity of aid being dropped via parachutes, which does not meet the minimum needs of citizens amid the escalating famine. It represents only a drop in the ocean of humanitarian needs for our people in Gaza and is negligible compared to what aid trucks can carry when they are allowed to enter through the land crossings."

The Ministry of Interior in Gaza emphasized that the negative effects of dropping aid parachutes and the chaos, destruction, and loss of life and property they cause far outweigh any benefits they might provide to the groups of the Palestinian people, and that the best way to assist the people and end the humanitarian crisis and systematic starvation is by opening the land crossings and allowing a substantial flow of humanitarian aid and food supplies daily and for extended periods.

The Gaza Interior Ministry called on all countries participating in the aerial drops to reconsider this lethal procedure and make an urgent decision to stop it, in order to ensure the safety of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
