Der'i and Sa'ar Oppose the Occupation of Gaza and Details of the Planned Operation Are Revealed
Translation SadaNews - Channel 12 reported this evening, Wednesday, that two members of the Israeli political-security cabinet "the Cabinet" oppose the occupation of the Gaza Strip and prefer a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.
According to the Hebrew channel, as translated by SadaNews, Der'i, who is classified as an observer within the smaller council, decided to cut short his vacation in Switzerland and attend the extremely important Cabinet session that will be held tomorrow to discuss whether or not to occupy the Gaza Strip.
It was noted that Foreign Minister Gidon Sa'ar also cut short his visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York and will participate in the session to express his outright opposition to this step.
The security establishment and the Israeli Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, oppose the occupation of the Strip and prefer to impose a blockade on certain areas while entering some regions on land in a limited manner that does not affect the lives of Israeli prisoners.
The security consultation session witnessed sharp disagreements between Zamir and Netanyahu in the meeting held yesterday.
Channel 12 mentioned that the plan currently under consideration aims to carry out a large-scale ground maneuver during which the city of Gaza and the central camps will be occupied using 6 military divisions for 6 months to push the population to migrate south and from there to emigrate outside the Strip.
