After initial security consultations.. Israeli source: Netanyahu is heading towards occupying Gaza

Translation by SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a limited security meeting this evening, Tuesday, that lasted about 3 hours to discuss the war in the Gaza Strip.

According to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir presented options for continuing the operation in Gaza.

The office confirmed, as translated by SadaNews, that the Israeli army is prepared to implement any decision made by the political-security cabinet, or "the cabinet".

The Hebrew channel Reshet Kan reported, citing an informed political source, that Netanyahu's direction is towards occupying the territory.

Another source stated that the focus is on taking control of the main camps and the city of Gaza.

According to the channel, as translated by SadaNews, in these areas, there are concerns about the possible presence of Israeli captives, and the expected operation there could put their lives at risk.

The Israeli security establishment opposes maneuvers in these areas; alternatively, the Israeli army proposed to seize control or impose a complete siege on the city of Gaza.

The channel indicated that the small cabinet will hold a discussion later, while the expanded cabinet will convene for additional discussions regarding the issue of expanding the fighting in Gaza, but no date has been set for that yet.

The two far-right ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir did not participate in the discussion held today, but alongside Netanyahu, Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer and Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant participated, as well as Zamir and military leaders.
