Abu Rudaina: Statements by the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives are Rejected and Condemned, Contradicting International Legitimacy

SadaNews - The official spokesperson for the Palestinian presidency, Nabil Abu Rudaina, condemned the statements made by the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in the presence of the American ambassador in Tel Aviv, in which he said that the United States recognizes Israel's historical right to sovereignty over the West Bank of the Jordan River, and that the mountains of Judea and Samaria were promised to the Jewish people.

He added that these statements contradict all international legitimacy decisions and international law, especially UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which was agreed upon by all countries, including the United States, and which considers all settlements illegal in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.

Abu Rudaina continued that what the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives said is incorrect and completely contradicts what was signed in the Oslo Accords in the American capital, Washington, that the political process is based on international legitimacy, foremost among which is the realization of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He considered that these statements are a challenge and provocation to the countries of the world that gathered in New York to preserve the two-state solution based on international law and legitimacy, including successive American administrations, which paved the way for a series of important international recognitions of the State of Palestine during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York next September.
