Netanyahu Strikes a Blow to His Opponents by Voting in Favor of the Dismissal of the Legal Advisor and the Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee

SadaNews Translation - Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been trying to strike blows against all his opponents through various decisions he has made directly, or through promoting others via some of his close associates with different justifications.

After a delay of nearly two months, the Israeli government met this afternoon and unanimously voted in favor of the dismissal of legal advisor Gali Baharav-Miara from her position, after the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice proposed ending her task and dismissing her for legal reasons, according to him. Recently, ministers and Knesset members from the Israeli ruling coalition have accused Miara of working against the government, claiming she is attempting to undermine the rule of the right-wing government and is personally working against Netanyahu and his family.

Miara has frequently halted Netanyahu's government decisions due to conflicts of interest, such as his appointment of a new head for the Shin Bet.

The decision to dismiss Miara from her position will not take effect until it is reviewed by the Israeli Supreme Court after objections have been raised by some parties, including opposition political parties.

This coincided with the Knesset committee voting to remove Likud member Polie Edelstein from the presidency of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, where coalition members and some opposition members voted in favor of his dismissal while others were absent.

This came at the request of the Haredi parties which conditioned their continued presence in the government on his dismissal due to Netanyahu's insistence on proposing a law regarding compulsory recruitment and the associated penalties in a manner they deem the only way to resolve the crisis, which those parties strongly reject.

Edelstein faced threats of dismissal from those close to Netanyahu as a result of this movement from him.

The Foreign Affairs and Security Committee later voted to dismiss Edelstein, and unanimously voted to appoint Boaz Bismuth as his replacement.
