At Least 68 Yemenis Dead in Migrant Boat Capsizing
SadaNews - The International Organization for Migration announced on Monday that at least 68 people have died in the capsizing of a boat carrying migrants off the coast of Yemen, while dozens are still missing.
The head of the organization's mission in Yemen, Abd al-Sattar Aiswif, stated that the confirmed death toll has reached 68, while only 12 individuals have been rescued from the 157 who were on board the ill-fated boat. He added that search operations are ongoing, amid dwindling hopes of finding survivors.
An initial toll from security sources had reported the deaths of 27 migrants before the organization confirmed the new figures, in one of the worst migration disasters the region has witnessed recently.
