UN: 1,373 Palestinians Martyred While Waiting for Aid in Gaza

SadaNews - The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights announced today, Friday, that 1,383 Palestinians have been martyred since May 27, as a result of being shot by Israeli occupation forces while waiting for aid in the Gaza Strip.

A press release from the Commission's office in Occupied Palestine indicated that "859 of them died in the vicinity of the sites of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, and 514 along the food convoy routes," adding that "most of these killings were carried out by the Israeli army."

The office added that during two days, "between July 30 and 31, reports indicate that 105 Palestinians were martyred and at least 680 were injured along the convoy routes in northern Gaza, the southern Khan Younis area, near the sites of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation in central Gaza and in Rafah."

The statement mentioned that "the shooting and bombardment of Palestinians by the Israeli army continued along the food convoy routes and near the sites of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation despite the army's announcement on July 27 of suspending its military operations for specified hours to improve humanitarian response."

The office announced that most of the victims "appear to be young people and children," emphasizing that "the victims did not pose any threat to the Israeli forces or to other individuals."
