Ramallah: President Abbas Receives the German Foreign Minister

SadaNews - The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, received the German Foreign Minister, Johan Vadeful, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah today, Friday.

The President informed Minister Vadeful about the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, particularly the catastrophic humanitarian situation faced by our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the killing of unarmed Palestinians, the crime of starvation, in addition to the assaults in the West Bank and the northern camps, and the ongoing terrorism of settlers against citizens and their properties.

He emphasized that the priority now is an immediate and permanent ceasefire, accelerating the entry of humanitarian aid to stop the war of starvation, releasing the hostages and prisoners, and for the State of Palestine to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip with Arab and international support, the complete Israeli withdrawal, in addition to halting settlement activities, attempts at annexation, settler terrorism, and releasing the withheld Palestinian funds.

He stressed the readiness to go to general elections that will not include political forces and individuals who do not adhere to the program and commitments of the Palestine Liberation Organization and international legitimacy, and the principle of a single state, a single law, and one legitimate weapon. He emphasized the importance of going forward with the implementation of the two-state solution according to international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, as stated in the International Peace Conference in New York, asserting that we want an unarmed State of Palestine, including in the Gaza Strip.

The President also appreciated the German minister's statements supporting the two-state solution and the building of Palestinian state institutions, and his affirmation of the unity of Palestinian lands under the Palestinian Authority. He also expressed gratitude for what Germany provides in humanitarian assistance to Gaza, UNRWA, support for building institutions, and implementing Palestinian reform programs, as well as its confirmed positions on ceasefire, facilitating humanitarian aid, and preventing displacement.

For his part, the German minister emphasized the importance of the State of Palestine managing the Gaza Strip following the end of the war, as it is the only legitimate entity representing the Palestinians, and it is essential that it contributes to the reconstruction of the sector. He affirmed his country's readiness to provide the necessary support and contribution to the national authority in the reconstruction efforts.

He stressed his country's rejection of the continued settlement expansion and the policies of annexation pursued by Israel, emphasizing support for peaceful solutions that lead to stability and security.

He called on Israel to release the Palestinian funds held by it, stating that this money is the right of the Palestinians, and the continued withholding poses a danger to stability.
