Yedioth Ahronoth: Netanyahu's Government Ignored Security Reports on Famine in Gaza for Political Reasons
SadaNews Translation - The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed on Friday that the Israeli government was aware of reports submitted by security institutions, including the Coordinator's office, regarding the fact that the Gaza Strip is on the brink of a real famine.
According to the Hebrew newspaper, as SadaNews translated, the Israeli government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, ignored those reports and continued to walk on a "tightrope," putting the residents of the Strip at risk of a humanitarian disaster.
According to the newspaper, this was not due to strategic considerations but for political reasons, stemming from Netanyahu's fear of the resignation of Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.
It pointed out that reports began flowing to the Israeli government since early April of last year, after Israel resumed its war in the Gaza Strip following the ceasefire that began in January and ended in March of this year.
The newspaper indicated that Netanyahu's government ignored the explicit threats from the European Union in this regard, just as it previously ignored warnings from the Joe Biden administration and the Donald Trump administration last May.
The newspaper stated: Netanyahu wasted time, made no decisions, hesitated under right-wing pressure, and wavered and retreated, which gave Hamas a political achievement following the horrific images that came out of Gaza showing the conditions of children and innocents.
