French Foreign Minister: Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's Aid System is "Shameful"

SadaNews - French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated on Thursday that the aid distribution system, supported by the United States and Israel in the Gaza Strip, has resulted in "bloodshed" and must stop.

He added, while speaking to reporters after a meeting with his Cypriot counterpart in Nicosia: "I would like to call for the cessation of the activities of the (Gaza Humanitarian Foundation), the militarized distribution of humanitarian aid that has caused bloodshed at distribution centers in Gaza is a disgrace and shameful, and it must stop," according to Reuters.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has been active in distributing food in the area since May 26, after Israel blocked access to supplies for two months, prompting warnings of impending famine.

However, its operations are characterized by chaos, with near-daily reports of deaths from Israeli fire among those waiting to receive assistance.

The foundation distributes food at a limited number of distribution centers. Reports of shootings near these centers have repeatedly emerged, leading to the deaths of many Palestinians seeking aid, with these reports accusing the Israeli army of being the shooters in these incidents.

According to the "United Nations," hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in the vicinity of distribution centers belonging to this foundation since the end of May.

UN agencies and the majority of humanitarian organizations operating in Gaza refuse to cooperate with this foundation, questioning its operational mechanisms and principles, and considering it serves the objectives of the Israeli army.

Israel has justified the establishment of the new distribution mechanism by stating its aim is to prevent Hamas from seizing the aid. However, critics accuse Israel of exploiting the aid in a biased manner. Previously, the "United Nations" managed about 400 distribution centers in the Gaza Strip, serving around two million Palestinians, but these have now become almost dysfunctional due to Israel's blockade of supplies.
