Unknown assailants attack the Mayor of Hebron... Police clarify: "Family issues" (Video)
SadaNews: Unknown assailants attacked the Mayor of Hebron, Taysir Abu Sneina, early this morning as he was leaving the mosque after performing the Fajr prayer.
The Hebron Municipality commented on the incident, stating: "In a cowardly criminal act that is unrelated to religion, morals, or customs, a group of lawbreakers assaulted the Mayor of Hebron, Mr. Taysir Abu Sneina, as he left the mosque after performing the Fajr prayer, in a painful and provocative scene for every free patriot, and for everyone who respects the sanctity of God’s houses and human dignity. This cowardly criminal act is not just an assault on the person of the mayor but is a direct targeting of the Hebron municipality and a symbol of its elected legitimacy, reflecting a dangerous decline in societal behavior and an unacceptable attempt to impose chaos."
It continued: "The Hebron Municipal Council condemned this heinous attack in the strongest possible terms, for what it represents as a blatant violation of all national and religious values, an unforgivable assault on the dignity of elected legitimate institutions, and a despicable attempt to instill fear in the hearts and undermine social stability."
It added: "In light of this serious event, we call on security agencies and the public prosecutor to act immediately, pursue the perpetrators, arrest them, and bring them to justice to receive their fair and deterrent punishment, so that they serve as a lesson to anyone who dares to meddle with the security of the community and target its representatives and institutions."
For its part, the Palestinian police stated that "the incident of the assault on the Mayor of Hebron this morning is related to issues of a family nature, and the police initiated their procedures immediately following the incident, monitoring its developments moment by moment to complete the investigation and take legal action against the assailants, with complaints filed against them, and efforts are underway to bring them in."
